Bird directive
The bird directive already exists
from 1979 and onwards. Its main aim is to protect birds in the
European Union. Especially their habitats will be protected and
there are restrictions on hunting and trade of bird species. The
habitats should be protected for the birds shown in Annex I. It
is prohibited to hunt all bird species except for the once shown
in Annex II. At last the trade in bird species is only allowed
for the species announced in Annex III.
For the SPA's the bird species in the Slovenian bird list according
to Annex I were taken into consideration.
