Plants of Slovenia
A number
of 3192 plant species are recorded for Slovenia, after an
extensive survey of fieldwork and literature (Jogan
2001). The highest floral diversity can be found in
the south west of Slovenia.
The Julian
Alps are for plants very interesting. Beside the large number
of high mountain species (Fig
1), also the bulk of slovenian endemics are restricted
to this area (Fig
2).
A group like
the orchids are occuring over whole Slovenia (Fig
3). They can be mainly found in spring and for the mountains
also during the summer. Their habitat varies from dry till
wet meadows, which can be found everywhere.
